Italy Logue is a part of the BootsnAll Travel Network, and I’m Jessica, your Italy Travel Guide hostess. Allow me to introduce myself…
I’ve always had a tendency to fall head-over-heels in love with whatever I’ve chosen to immerse myself in at any given moment, and travel is no exception. I have been, at various times in my life, an Anglophile, a Francophile and a New Zealand-o-phile (is that even a word?). And yet once I started getting into Italy - and studying Italian - I haven’t looked back.
I began studying Italian in 2001, just before my first trip to Italy, and have kept myself involved in Italian classes since then. Each time I visit Italy I fall more in love with the country. Thankfully, the husband (who’s also been studying the language) feels the same way, and we’ve had “moving to Italy” on our dream to-do list for a few years.
Well, we took it off the “dream” list in 2007, and we’re currently in the process of making the dream a reality. The husband is job-hunting in Italy, and I’m lucky to have a job that’s portable (so long as I’ve got an internet connection). We’re fortunate to have friends who moved from the U.S. to Italy years ago, and we’ve continued to make friends in the expat community in Italy, so we’ve got lots of people we can go to when we have questions. We’re looking forward to a day when we can pay it forward to the next batch of expat-wannabes!
So, in addition to the tidbits I’ll post here about Italian culture and news, I’ll also be periodically chronicling our adventure in what it takes to become an expat in Italy.
As someone who adores Italy - the culture, the food, the people, the style, the language - I hope I’ll make this travel guide an entertaining and informative read for Italophiles everywhere. If there’s something you think I’m missing, or that you’d like me to talk about, please let me know.
If you’re one of the people who’s more than knee-deep online, you can also find me on the following sites - add me to your networks and I’ll do the same!
