French President Likes Lucca’s Oil

French President Jacques Chirac must be trying to lay the groundwork for his Italian retirement villa. He’s called the olive oil produced in area of Lucca “exquisite,” also saying “almost nothing else tastes as good.” As if the olive oil producers of Italy needed a Frenchman to tell them this…

In 2005, he also said of the Brits, “You can’t trust people whose food is so bad.” I think he ought to bring a food taster along to his next meeting in London. Y’know, just in case.
