I hate to admit it, but he doesn’t seem to be playing as well since he chopped off those locks. Those perfectly-placed-passes that he’s so famous for – the ones he could probably do in his sleep – haven’t been as perfectly-placed lately. I dunno, maybe there’s something about the amount of hair on his head throwing off his balance now? Lordy, I hope they win on Sunday, though. I’ll be in Rome watching the finish of the Giro, so I won’t get to see it… Of course, given my “jinx,” maybe that’s a good thing.

I agree, if Maldini really did stand up to the Ultra then that’s yet another reason to love him. As if we needed more. I’m going to be watching the Giro finish on Sunday in Rome, so will have to ask the husband to record the Fiorentina game for me back home so I can see it when I get back. His last appearance…

Ah! Great pictures!! Excellent shots of il Capitano, Becks with his Italian hand gestures and lots and lots of Pirlo, even with his shirt off. That’s my girl!
We were so lucky to have been there. It was such an electric atmosphere. And even if they lost, I was happy to have seen Maldini playing in San Siro for the last time. His final “giro” was touching. And as you said, almost everyone in the stadium was cheering for him. They all know what an exceptional player he is and he’ll continue to be an influence for years to come. I was very happy to hear Guardiola dedicate Barcelona’s victory to Maldini. Who will remember those “pezzenti”? No one! The teams really have to do something to escape from the grip of the Ultra. Otherwise professional soccer, which is already suffering, will be a complete farce.

I am *not* a jinx, I’m *not* !! If I was, seriously, that’d be some heavy-duty mojo I was able to send, jinx-wise, all the way to Milan from Oregon. And if I had that kind of power, I’d be able to make Pirlo bow before me and apologize for cutting his hair. Right? Oh, for that kind of power…

Wait, where was I?

Y’know, it was such a small number of people who I think are really responsible for that stupid banner & the whistles, it was way more than 70,000 people still cheering for Paolo. That place was nearly full. Such a cool experience. I’m feeling pretty damned fortunate to have been there.

LOL! The atmosphere looks amazing, and I am still outraged at the stupidity of the Curva, but like Paolo said there were other 70,000 cheering for him so it’s all good. The pics and videos are awesome, thanx for sharing.
