Here's a breakdown of my 4-day itinerary in Florence - it's sort of in order of priority, so you can start with days 1 and 2 and then get a few more things (from day 4) into your last half-day. The main thing you're leaving out is a day trip to Siena.

Just make sure you're checking on the open days for the major museums, since they aren't open every day - you don't want to plan to visit on the one day a week it's closed!

What a wealth of information. But, if you do only have 2.5 days, what is recommended? Create the best blitz tour of Florence.

A great list! I live in Florence years ago and go there every year, always doing some of your list.

I'd add the church of San Miniato al Monte, just up from Piazzale Michelangelo. Apart from the splendid inlaid stone, frescoes and mosaics and views, it's always had a special energy for me. I sit quietly on a bench for about 30 minutes, pondering something I need to clarify and always leave with an answer.

Nice post!
I think your list is very considerable to give the travellers specific informations. I like the Uffizi Gallery, because It provides the Italian paintting collections.

I know, I know - it was so hard to narrow it to 10... I'm going to have to do another list at some point. We'll see how many of these 10 things end up on a future list. :)

Oh, but seeing the Grotto in the Boboli Gardens is worth adding an 11th item to your list! And, ok, a 12th -- rubbing the snout of Il Porcellino! That is just good, clean, touristy fun!

Sigh. I love that city!

All good suggestions, I did 8 of the 10 on the list. I missed Bargello and Pizzale Michelangelo, but I can catch those on the next visit.

Great post! I did all of those things on my first visit to Florence (we were there for 5 days), except visiting the Bargello. Saved that for a return visit. ;)
