I wouldn’t think these dancing vegetables and hunks of cheese would do much to sell Parmigiano Reggiano, but obviously someone thinks they’d work.
The annoying thing is that even though I think the ads are silly, I’ve found myself singing the stupid jingle without even realizing it. You are hereby warned.

I thought the same thing, Rose, but I know I’ve read recently that there are other European cheesemakers (principally in Germany, if I remember right) which are trying to get away with using the word “Parmesan” in their labeling and the Italians are afraid it’ll throw the buying public off so they’ll buy the “fake” stuff instead of the real thing - especially since one would assume the real thing would be more expensive. But in Italy, I have trouble believing that the average Italian would be so easily confused.
I just got back from Italy and actually saw this on TV! I laughed aloud but wondered why Parmigiano Reggiano would even have to advertise, especially in Italy.
