Hotel Modigliani

modigliani1You have two choices in Rome, usually – you can either spend a fortune on your hotel room in the center of everything or you can save money and be a bus ride away from everything you want to see. There are hidden gems, however, and one of them is the Hotel Modigliani.

This three-star budget hotel in Italy on the evocatively-named Via della Purificazione is a short walk from the famous Via Veneto, the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps. With only 23 rooms, you know you’ll get personal service from the dedicated and friendly staff, and you’ll be one of the few guests with access to the hotel’s delightful inner garden.

Hotel Modigliani is large enough to offer the services you’ve come to expect at larger hotels, but small enough to be more like a charming bed and breakfast. All 23 rooms have private en suite bathrooms, air conditioning, minibars, satellite TV, safe boxes, and hair dryers. If you choose a superior room you get a great view overlooking the city of Rome, but the other rooms are nothing to sneeze at – they will either open onto the hotel’s inner garden or the quiet street in front of the hotel. There are even two apartments if you’re staying for a bit longer or you’re traveling with your family.

Services available at the hotel include breakfast (included in the price of the room) in the garden (weather permitting), postal service for your outgoing mail, copy and fax service, help with reservations for museums and restaurants, assistance with car or scooter rental, airport shuttle (for a fee) and sightseeing tours (for a fee). The reception desk is open 24 hours a day. Nearby the hotel you’ll find banks, internet cafes, a pharmacy, tobacco shop and lots of shopping!

Although much of what you’ll want to see and do in Rome is within walking distance, should you decide you need to see something further away there is a Metro station not far from the hotel (Barberini) so you can get to other places throughout the city. And if you’re driving into Rome, there is car parking nearby – ask when you’re booking your room for recommendations.
