New All-Italy Podcast: Eye On Italy

eyeonitalyRegardless of how long you’ve been reading WhyGo Italy, it probably won’t surprise you to hear that I never tire of talking about Italy. And when I get to chat with other people who love talking about Italy as much as I do, well… You can imagine how giddy that makes me.

Which is why I’m pleased to tell you about a new endeavor I’m involved with – an all-Italy podcast. My friends Sara of Ms. Adventures in Italy and Michelle of Bleeding Espresso make up the other 2/3 of the podcasting team behind Eye On Italy, which we’ve recorded two weeks in a row now. We’ll be recording a new episode every week, and our goal is to discuss a few items of the latest Italian news, share travel tips to people planning a visit to Italy, and supplement your language lessons with a fun word or phrase every so often.

In our first episode, we talked about travelers stranded in Europe because of the Icelandic volcano, going to Turin to see the famous Shroud, and lots of Italy-related iPhone apps. The second episode just went up on the site today, and in it we talked about Italian political party in-fighting, an Italian court ruling on swearing at work, and one political party’s proposal to force foreigners to learn Italian before they can start businesses in Italy. Oh, and there’s a hilarious video in the show notes for the second episode that you have to see – it’s a commercial for Vodafone in Italy.

I’ve subscribed, and find the podcast fun to listen to. Seems like three friends chatting over espresso… charming and unrehersed. I always enjoy reading Michelle’s work (which is how I found the podcast) and now it’s nice to hear her voice too.
