  • International Air Tickets

    Okay, folks – we're all hearing the stories about how oil prices going up will mean airfare prices going up, and already there's news of $300 in fuel surcharges on European tickets (above and beyond the regular cost, taxes, and whatnot). If you're on the fence about booking a trip, you might want to pay special attention to the cost of air tickets over the next few days and weeks.

  • Italy fears up to 1.5 million North African migrants

  • Silvio Berlusconi in the dock: the most significant allegations against him

    Even Berlusconi's spokesperson says the Prime Minister "has been called to appear at more than 2,500 hearings involving around 100 cases since he was first elected in 1994." They're trying to make it seem like he's overly persecuted by people who hate him, but frankly I'm thinking that statistic just shows how dodgy he is… (via @DeirdreS on Twitter)

  • March 17th Voted New Holiday in Italy

    Italy's already-crowded holiday calendar just got another holiday added – March 17th, the anniversary of the formation of a unified Italy. Italian unification isn't universally celebrated throughout the country, however, so it's too early to tell whether the holiday will stay on the calendar. For now, it will mean banks and government offices will be closed this year.
