  • Massive Crowds And Crumbling Monuments, Has Venice Reached A Breaking Point?

Venice has been in the news quite a bit lately as the tourist burden increases at what seems like an exponential pace. Apparently last week the island's only parking lot got full – so police had to close the city to any more incoming cars. (The city has also made the odd decision to do a bunch of work in the parking lot in the middle of summer.)

According to The Harris Poll, more Americans would choose Italy as a vacation destination than any other country. This isn't where they've actually traveled, however, only where they WOULD go if they didn't have to worry about the cost. (via @michellefabio on Twitter)

Italy's highest court has just ruled that having sex in a car that's parked in a public place is now a felony. And yes, parked cars are popular places for sex to occur in Italy – when so many people live with their parents well into their 30s, where else are they going to do it?!?
