I use Ciampino airport all the time and there is no problem at all with its security, nor with its take off and landing facilities. I actually prefer it to Fiumicino as it's smaller, much easier to find your way round, and has excellent links into the centre of Rome by numerous coach and bus services. It's also easier to get out of by car as it feeds straight onto the main Rome ring road and all major motorways.

I would suggest the readers not to use the ciampino airport because it lacks many security infrastructures. The lane indeed is very short.
Moreover it is located in the middle of 3 towns that make the landing and take off difficult.
Fly safe to Rome, go to Fiumicino.
