I'm not sure what "weird times" mean... The Trenitalia site works on the 24-hour clock, is that the issue?

Also, I have to say, a day trip to Venice from Rome is aggressive, to say the least. It's 4-5 hours one way, and that's on the super-fast (and expensive) trains. You'll just get there and have to turn back around again. Are you sure you want to do that?

Hi, Danny:

I'm not sure what you're having trouble with on the Trenitalia site, can you be more specific? There's an English-language version of the site, in case that would help you.

http://trenitalia.com/homepage_en.html

Ciao,
Jessica

Having done this trip several times, I am a big fan of taking the train, too. It is efficient and fun!
