I don't have a specific office or rental car company to suggest to you, but I will say that you would be smart to find an office that isn't right in the historic center of Rome & pick up the car there. Likewise, if you can find an office outside Florence so you can drop the car off before you get into the historic center, that's also good. Driving in Italy's big cities can be a huge hassle - and if you can avoid it, that's usually a good thing to try to do.

If you need to, you can plot the addresses of rental car offices on a Google map to see where they are in the city in relation to the city center and the highways you want to take.

Here's more information about driving in Italy:

Dear Jessica,
What is the best place to rent a car in Rome to drive from Rome to Perugia to Assisi to Sienna and drop the car off in Florence? I know there are many places to rent in Rome and Florence which is easiest to get out of Rome and into Florence? Thank you, Diane

You know, I didn't do that when I was in Siena... Mainly because I'm seriously afraid of heights. I may have to buck up the courage and do it anyway next time! Thanks for the comment, Raymond.

When visiting Piazza del Campo, you have take the stairs up Torre del Mangia, you get an amazing 360 degree view of Siena; it is a bit of a trek up, but well worth it.
