Hotel Re di Roma
History is all well and good, and being in Rome means you’re surrounded by it. But let’s just assume you want a break from all that historic charm, and you want a more modern budget hotel in Italy? Then check out the Hotel Re di Roma.
This three-star property is located southeast from the Colosseum near the Basilica San Giovanni in Laterano in a building dating from the 1900s and thoroughly modern inside. The hotel’s 38 rooms have recently been renovated, and the owner has taken great care to make this hotel seem less like an impersonal hotel and more like a cozy home-like atmosphere. Based on many of the comments left by former guests, they achieved that goal.
Hotel Re di Roma sits close to the Piazza dei Re di Roma, where you’ll find a Metro stop to help you get into central Rome easily and quickly. All rooms have private en suite bathrooms, a breakfast buffet is included in the room rate and – get this – pets are even allowed in the property. The rooms also come equipped with air conditioning, WiFi access (for a small fee), hair dryers, satellite TV, fridge, and a coffee maker.
You can arrange for transportation to or from the hotel by private car or taxi when you are making your booking at Hotel Re di Roma (inquire about prices), and also be sure to mention if you require a room with disabled access. Most of the rooms are disabled accessible after the renovations, but do ask to make sure. Some parking spaces are available, if you are driving into Rome. In addition to a complimentary breakfast buffet, you can also arrange for several other services for additional fees – including dry cleaning, babysitting and WiFi access.
