Video on Piazza San Marco, Venice

Here’s a Monday video for you of the Piazza San Marco in Venice, which happens to be the front “lawn” of my favorite spot in all of Venice - the Basilica San Marco. As it happened, the water was a little high on the day they made this video, as the host demonstrates by getting his feet wet!

That clip was a Flash video from a company called GeoBeats, and it stopped playing years ago when Flash did. Here’s one of my own photos of the piazza instead, on a grey winter day:

High water still floods the piazza now and then, but less often since the MOSE flood barriers started closing in 2020. St. Mark’s is the lowest point in the city, so it is the first place to get wet.
