If Sicily remains off the radar of most tourists, Sardinia is even further off the beaten path. It’s closer to France (in the form of Corsica) than it is to Italy’s mainland, and it’s mostly rugged interior means that it’s a haven for outdoor activities like hiking and mountain biking. This island is also lined with some of Italy’s best beaches, so during August this is where many Italians go for their own summer holidays.
Cagliari is one of the major cities on the island of Sardinia, and although it can be relatively easy to find a place to stay in the off-season it can be anything but easy to find a vacancy. In other words, plan well in advance to get a good deal on a hotel in Cagliari!
